AZFriends Lure Club at Friends for Life Animal Rescue

Does your dog love to run? Give them the thrill of the chase with our lure coursing events, designed for speedsters, zoomie champions, and curious canines alike! The lure course is entirely volunteer-run and all proceeds directly benefit Friends for Life Animal Rescue, helping stray dogs and cats in our community find shelter, medical attention and forever homes. Our volunteers and supporters love the sport, and the community we’ve created at the lure course, in our very own Scentral Park!

Lure coursing is a fun and fast-paced sport where dogs chase a mechanically operated lure (a plastic bag on a string, attached to a motor) across a field in a safe, fully-enclosed course. It mimics the thrill of the hunt! Here at Friends for Life, it’s all about fitness, fun, and seeing your dog do what they love most: RUN!

Our lure events are non-competitive… just for fun only! The competitive version of the sport, AKC’s Fast CAT®, is a 100-yard dash where your dog runs solo in a straight line (our course is a loop). ). At our course, the dog running the course has exclusive access inside the park, unless they are running with another dog/s from their household.  Aside from time on the course, all dogs must remain leashed.
